Intro to Longarm Quilting - Certification Class

We will be launching a longarm rental pilot program this spring, classes will be limited to 3 students. You must take this class in order to then rent time on the longarm.

Equipment: Janome QuiltMaker Pro 20 (20" throat space) on a 12' frame, quilts up to 120" in width! ProStitcher Premium computerization with thousands of designs to choose from (additional certification required).

Description:

Have you ever wanted to quilt your own projects on a longarm machine?

In this hands-on class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of longarm quilting and gain access to rent and use our machine in the future.

This is a certification class, meaning it is the first step to using our longarm independently.

What you’ll learn:

• Overview of the longarm machine and frame
• How to load a quilt (backing, batting, top)
• Threading and bobbin basics
• Stitch regulation and machine controls
• Basic free-motion quilting (loops, meanders)
• Troubleshooting common issues

Each student will have time on the machine to practice and build confidence. Only 3 students per session.

• Length: 3 hours
• Costs: $125 per person 
• Class size: Limited to 3 students
• Time: 9:30 am - 12:30 pm or 1 pm - 4 pm
• Supplies: all supplies included

Requirements:

• Basic sewing knowledge recommended
• No longarm experience needed
• Please wear comfortable shoes and no excessive jewelry or large sleeves.

Important:
Completion of this class is required before renting time on the longarm.

What happens after class:
At the end of class, you can book your first session. Complete rental program information will be provided.

• Guided session (recommended for most beginners) $45 per hour
• Independent session (must have approval to book) $30 per hour
• Computerized training session (gain access to hundreds of designs and learn edge to edge quilting) $55 per hour
• Computerized quilted sessions (must have approval to book and have complete training session) $35 per hour
